AUBURN HILLS - Zach Lofton was a 25-year-old senior at Texas Southern, the fourth college team he played for, not including one that dismissed him before his first game.
That's why Dwane Casey's initial conversation with Lofton focused on his commitment and maturity more than his basketball ability.
Despite the red flags, the Detroit Pistons signed Lofton to a G League contract and are giving him a good look in training camp and preseason.
"I'm a big believer in second chances and opportunities and the young man has taken advantage of it and he's been nothing more than magnificent as far as attitude, his approach, his work ethic, everything," Casey said.
