The buzzer sounded in Indiana 15 years ago today.
The Detroit Shock battled through a tumultuous season as they looked to defend their 2008 title. The next year was anything but ordinary though. Bill Laimbeer announced his resignation as head coach just three games into the season. He handed the keys to top assistant and fellow Pistons great Rick Mahorn, who guided the team through a rough start.
The Shock finished above .500 and made the playoffs for the seventh straight season. The goal was to reach the WNBA Finals for the fourth straight year, but the Indiana Fever were in the way.
