Based on what we’ve seen so far from Stanley Johnson, it’s easy to see why Stan Van Gundy liked his game so much going into the draft.
He was arguably the best rookie in Orlando and showed much more polish offensively than what was advertised by most draft experts in June. Jump shots, pull-ups, shooting off the dribble, catch-and-shoot, put backs, and playing the passing lanes on defense for a transition lay up— Johnson collected his points in a variety of ways–all while maintaining excellent efficiency nailing nearly 60 percent of his shots in Orlando.
Johnson and the Pistons wrapped up Summer League action on Friday with an underwhelming performance against the Heat.
