Van Gundy on KCP: No need to apologize for arrest

Milwaukee — In the aftermath of Pistons guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope’s arrest early Wednesday morning for suspicion of operating while impaired (OWI), Pistons president-coach Stan Van Gundy acknowledged the incident but declined to provide further comment on what the team’s plans are in terms of further disciplinary action.

“I’ve been around KCP for three years; he’s a guy we really believe in — not only as a player but as a high-character guy,” Van Gundy said before the game. “We’re aware of the situation and we’ll let things run their course.”

Van Gundy said he didn’t consider holding Caldwell-Pope out of Thursday night’s game against the Brooklyn Nets, nor Friday’s game against the Bucks.
