In a night full of curiosities, some big winners and big losers, the Detroit Pistons had a solid draft. While teams like the Milwaukee Bucks couldn’t get out of their own way, drafting the maybe-19-maybe-24-years-old Thon Maker a good eight picks to an entire round earlier than expected with the tenth pick, the Pistons took advantage of a dropping Henry Ellenson in the first round and then selected Michael Gbinije in the second round.
Gbinije, a senior from Syracuse, was picked with local favorite Kay Felder from Oakland University still available, which may upset some fans.
