Selecting the best and worst coaches in Pistons history completes our series of ranking the men who called the shots – at least on the field, court and ice – for Detroit’s four professional teams. In ranking the Pistons coaches, we didn’t include anyone who wasn’t on the sideline for the equivalent of at least one full season. After all, it’s difficult to determine where Maurice Cheeks would fit in even if he was a total bust during a 50-game stint in 2013-14, when he often didn’t know who was in the lineup that night. So that leaves out other coaches such as Richie Adubato, who inherited the disaster Dick Vitale helped create and left behind.
