SVG backs Pistons' KCP after arrest: 'He's a guy we really believe in'

MILWAUKEE -- Stan Van Gundy backed Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Friday, calling his star shooting guard a "high-character guy" two days after his arrest for drunk driving.

Caldwell-Pope was arrested and ticketed for operating a vehicle while intoxicated early Wednesday in Auburn Hills. Police say the 24-year-old Caldwell-Pope was speeding in a 25-mph zone, then registered a preliminary blood-alcohol content level of 0.098.

"I'm not not going to comment on it," Van Gundy said. "Obviously, we're aware of it.

"Look, I've been around KCP for three years. He's a guy we really believe in, not only as a player but as a high-character guy.
