Stanley Johnson out for Pistons' opener with sore toe

Detroit — The regular season isn’t going to start the way the Pistons had pictured.

The issue isn’t Reggie Jackson or Blake Griffin; instead, it’s Stanley Johnson.

Johnson will miss Wednesday’s season opener at Little Caesars Arena against the Brooklyn Nets because of a sore toe. The injury had been bothering Johnson for the past few preseason games and coach Dwane Casey held Johnson out of the last two practices, hoping to ease some of the pain to prepare for the start of the season.

The other starting wing, Reggie Bullock, also was questionable because of illness.
