(Editor's note: Pistons.com continues its NBA draft preview series with a look at one of the candidates to be taken with their lottery pick at No. 8, Kristaps Porzingis of Latvia. Coming Wednesday: A look at Mario Hezonja.)
If Kristaps Porzingis is available when the Pistons go on the clock for the eighth pick, he might represent the ultimate test of Stan Van Gundy’s patience quotient.
That, of course, assumes two huge unknowns: That Porzingis will be available to the Pistons – it’s 50-50 at best and probably trending in the wrong direction – and, even more uncertain, what Van Gundy really thinks about the willowy 7-foot native of Latvia who at 19 already has five pro seasons under his belt, the last two in Spain’s tough ACB.
