Sekou Doumbouya has not had a sophomore season to write home about, and that is putting it mildly. He’s struggled on the court, he has an extremely ill-defined role, he seems to have a short leash with coach Dwane Casey, and we just haven’t seen much development after a promising rookie season for the youngest player in his draft class.
That is why it was so encouraging to see Doumbouya break out for 20 points in Detroit’s most recent game against Charlotte. It was easily the best game of the season for the 20-year-old Sekou and only the seventh where he’s managed to score double digits.
