AUBURN HILLS - Stan Van Gundy is enamored with Luke Kennard's offensive ability. He couldn't stress it enough Thursday, shortly after the Detroit Pistons selected the 6-6 shooting guard from Duke with the 12th pick in the draft.
But as complimentary as the Pistons coach was about his newest player's ability to score, he was just as adamant about Kennard's need to improve defensively. It's not negotiable.
"He's got a lot of work to do in that area, a lot of work to do," Van Gundy said. "So, we'll have that talk tomorrow. Because offensively, he's really good.
