The Pistons didn’t waste time in getting rookie Michael Gbinije in the fold.
Gbinije, whom the team selected in the second round, 49th overall in last month’s NBA draft, agreed to a three-year rookie deal on Thursday, according to the Pistons.
Gbinije, a 6-foot-7 wing, played point guard for Syracuse last season and helped lead them to the Final Four. Because of his size and athleticism, the Pistons project Gbinije to play either guard position or small forward.
He played in just one game for the Pistons in the Orlando Summer League this month — notching 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
