The Detroit Pistons signed another guard, Ryan Boatright, to an already maxed out roster. Is a trade imminent? Did Steve Blake have another setback with his concussion after making his debut in the preseason finale? What's the real reason Reggie Jackson didn't play? Is Spencer Dinwiddie getting clipped? Ahhhh--relax.
Turns out, the plan is to waive Boatright during the 48-hour window during which each team has to trim its roster to 15 by Monday. After Boatright clears waivers, the Pistons will assign him to the Grand Rapids Drive.
After four years at the University of Connecticut (he played his freshman year with Andre Drummond), Boatright was the smallest player at the NBA draft combine this year -- all 5-foot-11, 170 lbs of him -- and proceeded to go undrafted.
