Pistons owner Tom Gores supports players' right to 'raise awareness'

AUBURN HILLS -- Sunday's NFL games featured more protests by players, who in some cases were joined on their field by owners, than ever before.

Many players kneeled during the national anthem, many locked arms. A few teams remained in their locker room during the anthems.

It was a response to comments made by President Trump.

Detroit Pistons owner Tom Gores issued a statement Monday on the matter:

"America's most treasured values include equality and diversity, and the right to effect change through peaceful expression and thoughtful debate. Our players care deeply about our community, and they demonstrate that every day.
