FOURTH-QUARTER FLOOD – Dwane Casey understood the situation. The Pistons were undermanned – missing three starters in Blake Griffin, Reggie Jackson and Tony Snell – against one of the NBA’s legitimate title contenders and playing a back to back. He hoped to hang around long enough to have a chance to pull out a win. The Pistons managed to do so for three quarters despite getting almost nothing from their bread and butter, the 3-point line, shooting just 19 percent from deep in the first half.
