Luke Kennard remains a part of the Detroit Pistons' future, but Henry Ellenson apparently does not.
The Pistons announced Tuesday that they have exercised their option on Kennard's contract for the 2019-20 NBA season. But the Pistons, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports, have declined the option on Ellenson's contract for next season, making him an unrestricted free agent.
The deadline for a decision was Wednesday.
Ellenson, 21, has appeared in only one game this season, scoring seven points and grabbing three rebounds in eight minutes of mop-up duty Saturday against the Celtics.
The 6-11 power forward, selected 18th overall by the Pistons' in 2016, had an opportunity for a fresh start under a new coaching staff after struggling his first two seasons, seeing little playing time.
