Pistons' Baynes has been playing with broken nose

Auburn Hills — Pistons backup center Aron Baynes doesn't really have a reputation as a tough guy, but he apparently toughed his way through a broken nose.

The Pistons announced Thursday that Baynes underwent surgery to fix his broken nose, an injury suffered Friday in the loss at Oklahoma City. Baynes had medical clearance to continue playing in the Pistons' games on Sunday at Brooklyn, Monday against Houston and Wednesday against Phoenix.

Baynes has played in all 19 games for the Pistons this season, averaging 4.3 points and 3.9 rebounds in 12-plus minutes per game.

He played a season-high 20 minutes Monday against the Rockets, with a season-best 11 points.
