Pistons' Andre Drummond demonstrating maturity, focus

DETROIT - Detroit Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy jokingly suggested during the preseason that Andre Drummond should take technical free throws for his team.

Seriously, though, that's not far-fetched, not after what he's seen through nine games. Drummond, who entered the season as the worst free-throw shooter in NBA history at 38.1 percent, has made 28-of-36 attempts (77.8 percent).

It might be a relatively small sample size, but it's not a fluke, Van Gundy insists. If opponents want to hack him, go for it. He'll make them pay at the line.

That's what Drummond did Friday to the Milwaukee Bucks, converting a career-high 14 free throws on 16 attempts and scoring a season-high 24 points in a 105-96 victory at Little Caesars Arena.
