Malcom Bernard, a strong defensive player who played last season at Xavier, was selected by the Grand Rapids Drive with the 13th pick in the first round of the NBA G League draft Saturday.
The 6-foot-6 Bernard averaged 6.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists in his lone season with the Musketeers.
He also spent two years at Charleston Southern, transferred to Florida A&M where in 2015-16 he enjoyed his best statistical season (14.4 points, 7.1 rebounds).
“It’s a good league in terms of improving as a player and improving as a person,” Bernard said of joining the G League.
