The Detroit Pistons are looking to hire a new general manager, and it looks like current assistant GM Malik Rose will not be a candidate as reports surface he is leaving the Pistons organization to take a job within the NBA.
Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News was the first to report the news. “Detroit assistant GM Malik Rose is leaving the organization to take a job with the NBA, according to multiple sources. The Pistons are searching for a new GM to work with Ed Stefanski,” Bondy tweeted.
The news of the GM search seemed slightly curious at the time as the thinking was originally that Rose was hired as the heir apparent in Detroit once Stefanski, who serves as a senior adviser to Tom Gores and runs the Pistons front office, was ready to step away or take a reduced role.
