DETROIT - Minus a pair of starters, the Detroit Pistons fell behind by double digits in the first quarter and squandered a 13-point lead in the second half. They weren't getting good looks from 3-point range. One of the worst teams in the NBA last season was attacking the rim with ease, a task made easier during crunch time when Andre Drummond played with five fouls.
It was the season-opener and the Pistons already were dealing with much adversity.
But Dwane Casey, in his first game as Detroit coach, had a steady demeanor and calming influence, helping guide the Pistons past the Brooklyn Nets 103-100 Wednesday at Little Caesars Arena.
