The Detroit Pistons are set to waive centers Joel Anthony and Cameron Bairstow and renounce their rights to point guard Steve Blake in the aftermath of signing Boban Marjanovic from the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday morning, according to MLive’s David Mayo.
Anthony is a good locker room guy and a well-respected veteran, but only played about 90 minutes last season and on a team suddenly loaded with bigs would be unlikely to see the floor except in the most extreme of garbage time.
Bairstow never played for the Pistons, coming over from the Chicago Bulls in exchange for point guard Spencer Dinwiddie (who was himself waived today by the Bulls to make cap space in order to sign Dwyane Wade).
