Detroit Pistons plan to be in 'background' during free agency

AUBURN HILLS - With limited salary-cap space and no desire to go into the luxury tax, the Detroit Pistons will not be making a splash in free agency this summer.

But they will be looking for a complementary piece when the market opens on Sunday.

"With limited funds, we'll be in the background, we'll talk to agents after (Sunday) to tell them we like their players if they may fall through the cracks," Pistons senior adviser Ed Stefanski said.

The Pistons have about $116 million in contract commitments for next season, including Reggie Bullock and Eric Moreland, whose options have not been exercised yet, and $5.
