According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Minnesota Timberwolves have hired Detroit Pistons assistant GM Sachin Gupta as their Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations.
The Timberwolves previously hired Gersson Rosas to be their President of Basketball Operations, and Rosas and Gupta worked together during their time with the Houston Rockets.
Gupta was hired as the Pistons assistant GM the last offseason, as the front office tore down everything from the Stan Van Gundy era and started fresh. Gupta’s role focused on analytics, and perhaps he is most well known for being the creator of the ESPN trade machine.
