For a brief, three-day period it seemed as if Luke Kennard wasn’t a part of the Detroit Pistons plans, but that wasn’t the case.
The third-year guard was the focal point of Pistons trade discussions with the Phoenix Suns, getting as close as “gaining traction” on Tuesday night but talks fell through as the teams met on the hardwood Wednesday.
Pistons’ senior advisor Ed Stefanski has seen Kennard’s year-over-year improvement and believes he is a valuable player.
“Luke is well-respected and well-liked by other NBA teams, and they should because the kid has a lot of talent,” Stefanski told reporters on a conference call Friday.
