Shane Battier has withdrawn from consideration for a job in the Detroit Pistons front office, according to ESPN's Zach Lowe.
Battier, the former Birmingham-Detroit Country Day star, assumed the newly created role of director of basketball development and analytics for the Miami Heat a year ago. His job involves developing analytics to evaluate college players, free agents and players on the existing roster.
His is considered a rising star in the front-office ranks.
The Pistons hired Ed Stefanski last week as a special adviser to owner Tom Gores. Stefanski is leading the search for a new president of basketball operations and head coach after Stan Van Gundy was dismissed on May 7.
