Auburn Hills — The Pistons only play teams in the Western Conference two times per season. They’ll be glad to not to see Anthony Davis for a while.
For the second time this season, the All-Star big man torched the Pistons, netting a career-high 59 points and added 20 rebounds in the Pelicans’ 111-106 victory on Sunday afternoon at The Palace.
The Pistons (27-29) have lost five straight and are falling fast in their quest for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
They were playing shorthanded for the third straight game, this time without Donatas Motiejunas and Marcus Thornton, who were acquired in Thursday’s trade with the Houston Rockets that hasn’t been cleared because Motiejunas has not completed his physical.
