SEASON SUMMARY
Stan Van Gundy wanted Caron Butler on his roster and in his locker room, valuing Butler not only for his willingness to take big shots but also for the leadership he knew Butler would lend to a young team. He began the season as the Pistons oldest player at 34 – Tayshaun Prince, acquired at the trade deadline, is a month older – and played all but four games, averaging 5.9 points and 2.5 rebounds in 21 minutes a game. His 3-point percentage of .379 finished behind only Kyle Singler, the starter ahead of him until being included in the trade for Reggie Jackson, and Prince, who took only 26 triples in his return to the Pistons for the final third of the season.
