In Pistons news today, the Detroit Pistons will not completely cut ties with general manager Joe Dumars, as it looks like he may be retained in a lesser role with the franchise.
Per David Mayo of the MLive Media Group, the Detroit Pistons will keep Joe Dumars on in an advisory capacity at the end of the 2013-14 NBA season:
Dumars will remain with the team as an adviser. The team has not made a formal announcement. #Pistons

Mayo also states that George David and Ken Catanella will oversee preparations for the 2014 NBA Draft, and that there is no word on whether a new general manager will be in place by then:
Many questions about #Pistons keeping Dumars in lesser role. David/Catanella will prep for draft. TBA if new GM in place by draft. — David Mayo (@David_Mayo) April 13, 2014
In the end, Joe Dumars never resigned from his post as general manager, indicating this was most likely a demotion which the front office initiated, perhaps working on the best way to preserve Dumars' legacy with the Pistons rather than airing dirty laundry between the two parties in public.
We will have more on these developments when the Detroit Pistons make all of these changes public in the next week.
