The Detroit Pistons are adjusting to a new culture under head coach and team president Stan Van Gundy, but at least one member of the roster has an idea of what to expect going forward.
"A winning culture," veteran Caron Butler said, via an Associated Press report on Friday. "Instilling the right way to play."
Butler played for Van Gundy in Miami a decade ago as both player and coach were starting their journeys in the NBA. Butler was trade after the 2003-04 NBA season, but remained a fan of Van Gundy's work - enough so that he decided to rejoin his former coach in Detroit prior to the 2014-15 NBA campaign.
"This is my second go-around with coach Van Gundy, and I like what I'm seeing," Butler said earlier in the week. "I know these guys are thirsty to win. ... You have all the talent and young core in place."
Butler is even a fan of Van Gundy's no-nonsense, pull-no-punches style.
"I know he's going to push me," Butler said.
"I know he's going to not let me settle."
