The ping pong balls are in, and the Detroit Pistons will pick ____ in the 2014 NBA Draft. While they had a 10% chance at a top three selection, the Pistons will pick at number __ as a result of their 29-53 record from 2013-14, eighth worst in the league.
The Cavs have had top five picks in the past three drafts, selecting Anthony Bennett at #1 in 2013, Dion Waiters at #4 in 2012 and Tristan Thompson
At number __, there’s certainly no lack of talent in this year's draft for the Pistons to choose from. All eyes are on recently named head coach and team president Stan Van Gundy. Prospects include:
Duke forward Jabari Parker,
center Joel Embiid of Kansas,
Andrew Wiggins, SF from Kansas.
Noah Vonleh, Indiana PF.
Julius Randle, Kentucky PF.
Aaron Gordon, Arizona PF.
Marcus Smart, Oklahoma State PG
Doug McDermott, Creighton Forward
Dante Exum, the 6'6" guard from Australia has caught the attention of many scouts.
Nik Stauskas, guard from Michigan
Gary Harris, guard from Michigan State
*Because the Pistons garnered a top 8 pick, they will not forfeit their pick as a part of the 2012 deal with Charlotte. The pick will roll over and likely be Charlotte's next year.
The 2014 NBA Draft will take place on Thursday, June 26.
