With the eighth overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, the Detroit Pistons select Stanley Johnson out of Arizona.
Position: Small Forward
School: Arizona
Class: Freshman
Measurables: 6’7”, 245 lbs.
Analysis:
Johnson started the college season as the second most hyped player in this freshman class behind Jahlil Okafor, and he lived up to that hype. He was one of the best perimeter defenders in the country, and when coupled with his athleticism and improved shooting stroke (37.1% from long-range), and it’s easy to see why many think he’ll be able to make an impact in the NBA right away. Johnson does have a very raw offensive game, but his defense is good enough to get him minutes while he fully develops offensively.
