DETROIT -- The Lions will have a new receiver this week, and return man too.
Bruce Ellington will make his Detroit debut Sunday against Carolina. He signed with the club last week, but did not dress for the loss in Chicago. Now with Marvin Jones out (and Golden Tate traded to Philadelphia), Ellington has been activated for the short-handed Lions offense.
He is expected to play at receiver, and could be the new return man too. Brandon Powell has been deactivated, and Ellington has lots of experience as both a kick and punt returner.
Kenny Golladay, TJ Jones and Andy Jones -- called up from the practice squad on Saturday -- are also dressed at receiver.
