On Wednesday, the Detroit Lions officially announced the establishment of their 2024 practice squad. There was only one problem: much like their initial 53-man roster that only had 52 players, their initial 16-man practice squad only had 15 players.
Adding even further to the confusion is that there were already several reports that the 16th man was going to be wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones. So why didn’t they actually sign him? Is there a snag in negotiations? Did the Lions or Peoples-Jones change their mind?
The answer is actually far less interesting or drama-filled.
