Why Detroit Lions already might have found their running back tandem of the future

At the risk of reading too much into one third-quarter scoring drive in one meaningless December game, the Detroit Lions may have gotten a glimpse of their 2020 backfield in last week’s loss to the Denver Broncos.

On the Lions’ lone touchdown drive of the game, Kerryon Johnson and Bo Scarbrough carried seven times in a 10-play sequence for 43 yards.

Johnson followed tight end Isaac Nauta through a big hole on the right side of the line for an 8-yard gain. Scarbrough took the next carry 18 yards off left guard Oday Aboushi’s inside hip.
