We all know by now that it’s a dangerous game to buy into offseason hype when it comes to individual players. It’s become a long-running joke now when stories are written in the spring about players “in the best shape of their lives” or the unique offseason training program a player went through that will unlock all of their potential.
Regardless, every year some fans buy into some of this offseason hype and assume the best their team. This player will have a breakout year. This team finally has all the pieces together for a championship run.
There’s nothing inherent wrong with hope this time of year.
