When Bob Quinn said last weekend was going to be a hard one on him, that he couldn’t stand sitting at home with the rest of the Detroit Lions watching football this time of year, he had no idea how hard it was going to be.
In the first playoff game of the weekend, Eric Ebron, the tight end Quinn cut last March without a solid backup plan in place, scored a touchdown on the game’s opening drive — his 15th of the year — and caught two more passes to help the red-hot Indianapolis Colts, with a first-year head coach hired from one of last year’s Super Bowl teams, win their first playoff game since 2014.
