After over 40 years of existence, the Pontiac Silverdome is to be demolished on Sunday morning.
The Silverdome was the home of the Detroit Lions from 1975 to 2001 and even hosted the Pistons and Michigan Panthers for some time.
But after awhile, the outdated stadium became an eyesore to a new generation of fans. The Lions moved to a much more modern Ford Field in 2002 and the Silverdome started to collect dust.
The venue would go on to hold a variety of events, like motocross, soccer and even ultimate frisbee. But in the end, the stadium was just not up-to-date enough to draw big events anymore.
