The new year arrives, and the Lions season is hurtling towards its end.
Everything that was evil and wretched and vile emancipated itself this year for the Lions. The crash came and it was not pretty; every plan of its rocket scientist coach blew the hell up. The lie fell apart, and this just wasn’t a good team by any stretch of the imagination.
To a lesser degree, the same thing happened to the Vikings. Not that they’re on the verge of firing Mike Zimmer, but it would be a lie to call their own season anything but disappointing: this was a team that many pegged to win the division, to continue its defense-heavy ways and build upon Dalvin Cook’s excellence.
