The Dallas Cowboys were trying to be proactive after an arrest warrant had been issued for Lucky Whitehead, stemming from a shoplifting incident last month. They cut him.
The problem? Whitehead wasn't responsible for the crime.
Northern Virginia police today said it was a case of mistaken identity. The man arrested did not have any identification on him, but knew Whitehead's date of birth and social security number.
