ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Tyrunn Walker immediately tried to get in touch with his mother, and soon enough, she told him everything was fine. Walker’s hometown, New Iberia, Louisiana, has been part of the disastrous flooding in the area, and Walker needed to know everything -- or at least everyone -- was OK.
His mom gave him good news: His family was accounted for and healthy.
“Got a little damage, family members lost some stuff,” Walker told ESPN this week. “But healthy-wise, they’re fine. That’s all that matters.”
Walker wasn’t sure the extent of the damage to the possessions of some aunts and uncles because he has been in Michigan at Detroit Lions training camp.
