Former Detroit Lions running back Ty Johnson was claimed off of waivers by the New York Jets on Friday. Johnson was waived by the Lions on Thursday.
Johnson was featured heavily in his rookie year for Detroit after they drafted him in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL draft. He carried the ball 63 times for 273 yards and caught 24 passes for 109 yards last season. He also managed to stay healthy on an injury-riddled team, featuring in all 16 games.
The running back had fallen out of favor in year two, though.
