The Lions have filled one of their two open roster spots with the signing of safety Taylor Mays.
A former second-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers in 2010, Mays was the fastest safety at the 2010 Combine, running the 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds.
He spent one year with the 49ers and played in 16 games (six starts) with 38 tackles and two passes defended.
He was traded to Cincinnati before the 2011 season and has spent the last four seasons with the Bengals, making four starts along the way.
