TWENTYMAN: Lions continue to build practice squad

After signing seven players to their practice squad on Sunday, the Lions added cornerback Stanley Jean-Baptiste to the squad Monday.

A second-round pick (No. 58 overall) by the Saints in 2014, Jean-Baptiste was part of the Saints’ final cuts on Saturday.

The former receiver turned defensive back at Nebraska struggled as a rookie in New Orleans last season, playing in just four games for the Saints.

He has terrific size at 6-foot-3 and now becomes a developmental player in Teryl Austin’s system under defensive backs coaches Tony Oden and Alan Williams. It’s unclear if the Lions will use him at cornerback or safety.
