Alex Carter’s season is over before it ever really began.
The Lions placed their rookie cornerback on season-ending injured reserve Monday.
Carter, the team’s third-round draft pick, had been practicing alongside his teammates the last three weeks after sitting out the first eight weeks on short-term injured reserve with the designation to return.
In the end, the Lions determined Carter missed too much time in the offseason and in training camp to be able to help them the final five games of the season on the active roster.
