Exactly one month from today, the latest installment in EA Sports annual football video game franchise, Madden NFL 20, is set to be released worldwide. Patrick Mahomes is this year’s face of the franchise, so it’s probably going to be the best iteration of the game to date because why wouldn’t it be with the best player in the game gracing the cover?
In the weeks leading up to the release of Madden, the team over at EA Sports capitalizes on the most foundational element of social media: arguing. They’re able to effectively build hype for the game by releasing the ratings of players and whipping fans of the game—and sometimes players, too—into a frenzy over those ratings and where players ranked among their contemporaries.
