DETROIT -- T.J. Jones was having a solid if unspectacular preseason, operating in that necessary productive area to keep pace in a heated battle to make the Lions wide receiver depth chart.
He'd been making some plays and trading first-team reps with rookie Kenny Golladay. Even if Jace Billingsley or Jared Abbrederis were poised to beat him out for the final spots on the roster, Jones wasn't going down without a fight.
He did go down with an injury Saturday night against the New York Jets in a preseason game. Jones hurt his hamstring in the second quarter of the team's 16-6 win, and he was visibly bothered on the sidelines as he headed to the locker room.
