The Detroit Lions will reportedly waive running back Kerryon Johnson later on Thursday. While it’s never a good thing to see a second-round pick cut after just three seasons, it would not be accurate to call Johnson a complete bust in Detroit.
Johnson burst onto the NFL scene by averaging an impressive 5.4 yards per carry his rookie season to go along with 32 catches for another 213 yards. Most notably, Johnson quickly put an end to Detroit’s 70-game drought of lacking a running back who amassed 100 yards in a single game with a 101-yard performance against the Patriots on “Sunday Night Football.
