Community leaders are saying Dan Gilbert is interested in buying the Detroit Tigers. Detroit Free Press
There’s an old trick in the sports world. When it comes to hiring coaches or executives or pretty much making any deal, a contract is rarely officially offered until the moment it is signed.
This allows any of the parties involved to back out at the last second. Everyone can save face by saying there was never officially an offer that was rejected or rescinded. No one wants to look bad or give an explanation in case a potential deal falls through.
