ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Joe Lombardi gave an honest assessment Thursday afternoon. Asked what his team’s offensive identity is, the Detroit Lions' offensive coordinator couldn’t hide from it.
“Right now,” Lombardi said, "it’s of an 0-5 team.”
A lot of the Lions' issues that have led to their winless start have been due to the offense run by Lombardi, in his second year as coordinator. Ideally, he would like a team that runs the ball well, has strong play-action passing, doesn’t commit turnovers and is efficient on third down.
So far, none of those things are happening.
